Claims:	1. A composition comprising about 0.1% w/v to about 2% w/v deoxycholic acid (DCA): ##STR00023## or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, wherein the DCA comprises a synthetic side chain of formula: ##STR00024## and at least one pharmaceutically acceptable excipient and/or carrier. 2. A method for removal of fat deposits in a mammal comprising administering to the mammal in need thereof a therapeutically effective amount of a composition comprising DCA ##STR00025## or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, wherein the DCA comprises a synthetic side chain of formula: ##STR00026## and at least one pharmaceutically acceptable excipient and/or carrier. 3. The method of claim 2, wherein the composition comprises about 0.1% w/v to about 2% w/v DCA or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. 4. The method of claim 2, wherein the composition further comprises up to 5% w/v phosphatidylcholine. 5. The method of claim 2, wherein the composition does not contain phosphatidylcholine. 6. A syringe or syringe-loadable container comprising a composition comprising DCA: ##STR00027## or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, wherein the DCA comprises a synthetic side chain of formula: ##STR00028## and at least one pharmaceutically acceptable excipient and/or carrier. 7. The syringe or syringe-loadable container of claim 6, wherein the composition comprises about 0.1% w/v to about 2% w/v DCA or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. 8. The syringe or syringe-loadable container of claim 6, wherein the composition further comprises up to 5% w/v phosphatidylcholine. 9. The syringe or syringe-loadable container of claim 6, wherein the composition does not contain phosphatidylcholine.
