Claims: | 1. A process for preparing a hydrochloride salt of telavancin; the process comprising: (a) forming an aqueous composition comprising a hydrochloride salt of telavancin, wherein the aqueous composition has a pH of about 3.5 to about 4.5; (b) adding an organic diluent to the aqueous composition of step (a) to precipitate the hydrochloride salt of telavancin; and (c) filtering the aqueous composition of step (b) to provide the hydrochloride salt of telavancin. 2. The process of claim 1, wherein the aqueous composition has a pH of about 3.5 to about 4.0. 3. The process of claim 1 or 2, wherein the organic diluent is acetonitrile. 4. The process of claim 1 or 2, wherein the organic diluent is acetone. 5. The process of claim 1 or 2, wherein the process further comprises: (d) washing the hydrochloride salt of telavancin from step (c) with methyl tert-butyl ether. |
