Claims:	1. Method for treating diabetes in a mammal in need thereof, which comprises administering to such mammal a therapeutically effective amount of 5-[[4-[2-(methyl-2-pyridylamino)ethoxy]phenyl]methyl]-2,4-thiazolidinedion e in combination with an .alpha.-glucosidase inhibitor. 2. Method according to claim 1, wherein .alpha.-glucosidase inhibitor is selected from the group consisting of acarbose, voglibose and miglitol. 3. Method according to claim 1, wherein the .alpha.-glucosidase inhibitor is voglibose.
