Patent Claims:1. A method for treating a corneal wound caused by laser irradiation and resulting photoablation and volumetric removal of corneal tissue, comprising: applying to the affected cornea a composition containing between about 10 micrograms per milliliter and 10.0 milligrams per milliliter of a regulator of collagen structure selected from the group consisting of a collagenase, an elastase, a protease, proline hydroelase, phenylmethylsulfonyl fluoride and a pyrridine-dicarboxylic acid ester and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier therefor.

2. The method of claim 1 wherein the regulator of collagen structure comprises a collagenase.

3. The method of claim 1 wherein the regulator of collagen structure comprises an elastase.

4. The method of claim 1 wherein the regulator of collagen structure comprises a protease.

5. The method of claim 1 wherein the regulator of collagen structure comprises proline hydroelase.

6. The method of claim 1 wherein the regulator of collagen structure comprises phenylmethylsulfonyl fluoride.

7. The method of claim 1 wherein the regulator of collagen structure comprises a pyrridine-dicarboxylic acid ester.
