Summary for Patent: 4,808,528
Title: Antibody composition for the detection of malignant cells with metastatic cell activity
Abstract:Basement membrane collagen degrading enzymes are provided which are useful for the detection of malignant cells with metastatic activity. Means for detecting such cells are also provided.
Inventor(s): Tryggvason; Karl (90230 Oulu 23, FI), Liotta; Lance A. (Bethesda, MD)
Assignee:
Application Number:07/067,598
Patent Claims:1. Antibody compositions for the detection of malignant cells with metastatic cell activity, said compositions comprising antibodies specific to type IV collagenase enzyme antigens.

2. The antibody compositions of claim 1, wherein said antibodies are labelled with detectable labels.

3. The antibody compositions of claim 1 wherein the antibody compositions comprise antiserum recovered from blood serum of animals, which have been previously inoculated with purified type IV collagenase enzyme antigens.

4. The antibody compositions of claim 3, wherein said antibodies are labelled with detectable labels.

5. The antibody compositions of claim 1 wherein said antibody compositions comprise monoclonal antibodies to said type IV collagenase enzyme antigens.

6. The antibody compositions of claim 5, wherein said antibodies are labelled with detectable labels.

7. Monoclonal antibodies that bind specifically to type IV collagenase enzyme antigen.

8. The monoclonal antibodies of claim 7, wherein said collagenase enzyme antigen consists essentially of two polypeptide chains having molecular weights of about 68,000 and about 62,000.

9. The immortal, mammalian antibody producing cell lines that produce the monoclonal antibodies of claim 7.
