1. A method for treating pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors, comprising administering to a human subject in need thereof a therapeutically effective amount of
40-O-(2-hydroxyethyl)-rapamycin as a monotherapy and wherein the tumors are advanced tumors after failure of cytotoxic chemotherapy.
2. The method of claim 1, wherein a unit dose of 40-O-(2-hydroxyethyl)-rapamycin is 10 mg/day.
3. The method of claim 1, wherein the tumor is islet cell tumor.
