Patent Claims: 1. The di-N-methylglucamine salt of the gadolinium (III) complex of diethylene-triaminepentaacetic acid.

2. The di-N-methylglucamine salt of the gadolinium(III) chelate complex of diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid in sterile form.

3. Isolated di-N-methylglucamine salt of the gadolinium(III) chelate complex of diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid.

4. A chelate complex of gadolinium(III) or a salt thereof, wherein said chelate complex or salt is in sterile form and said gadolinium does not emit ionizing radiation.

5. A compound according to claim 4, wherein said compound is a salt of gadolinium diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid.

6. A compound according to claim 5, wherein said compound is a sodium, glucamine, N-methylglucamine, N,N-dimethylglucamine, ethanolamine, diethanolamine, morpholine, lysine, ornithine or arginine salt of gadolinium diethylenetraiminepentaacetic acid.

7. A compound according to claim 4, wherein said compound is the di-lysine salt of gadolinium diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid.

8. A compound according to claim 6, wherein said compound is a sodium salt of gadolinium diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid.

9. A chelate complex of gadolinium(III) or a salt thereof, wherein said chelate complex or salt is in sterile form and said gadolinium is not a radionuclide.

10. A chelate complex of gadolinium(III) or a salt thereof, wherein said chelate complex or salt is in sterile form and said chelate complex or salt is not radioactive.
