Application Number:15/239,680
Patent Claims: 1. A composition comprising nanoparticles comprising a taxane coated with albumin and a ligand capable of binding a prion protein, wherein the nanoparticles in the composition have a negative zeta potential.

2. The composition of claim 1, wherein the taxane is paclitaxel.

3. The composition of claim 1, wherein the ligand is a peptide.

4. The composition of claim 1, wherein the ligand is a triazine-based compound.

5. The composition of claim 1, wherein the ligand is an antibody that recognizes a prion protein.

6. The composition of claim 5, wherein the antibody is 3F4, 6H4, 16A18, ICSM-4, or ICSM-10.

7. The composition of claim 1, wherein the ligand is a polymeric material that binds to prion proteins.

8. The composition of claim 7, wherein the polymeric material comprises an amino group, a phenyl group, or a methacrylate backbone.

9. The composition of claim 1, further comprising a supporting material.

10. The composition of claim 9, wherein the supporting material is selected from the group consisting of a resin, a bead, and a membrane.

11. The composition of claim 1, wherein the nanoparticles in the composition have an average diameter of no greater than about 200 nm.

12. A composition comprising nanoparticles comprising rapamycin coated with albumin and a ligand capable of binding a prion protein, wherein the nanoparticles in the composition have a negative zeta potential.

13. The composition of claim 12, wherein the ligand is a peptide.

14. The composition of claim 12, wherein the ligand is a triazine-based compound.

15. The composition of claim 12, wherein the ligand is an antibody that recognizes a prion protein.

16. The composition of claim 15, wherein the antibody is 3F4, 6H4, 16A18, ICSM-4, or ICSM-10.

17. The composition of claim 12, wherein the ligand is a polymeric material that binds to prion proteins.

18. The composition of claim 17, wherein the polymeric material comprises an amino group, a phenyl group, or a methacrylate backbone.

19. The composition of claim 12, further comprising a supporting material.

20. The composition of claim 19, wherein the supporting material is selected from the group consisting of a resin, a bead, and a membrane.

21. The composition of claim 12, wherein the nanoparticles in the composition have an average diameter of no greater than about 200 nm.
