Title:Pen-type injector
Abstract: The present invention relates to injectors, such as pen-type injectors, that provide for administration of medicinal products from a multidose-cartridge and permit a user to set the delivery dose. The injector may include a housing, a piston rod adapted to operate through the housing, a dose dial sleeve located between the housing and the piston rod, and a drive sleeve located between the dose dial sleeve and the piston rod. The dose dial sleeve may have a helical thread of first lead and the drive sleeve may have a helical groove of second lead. The first lead of the helical thread and the second lead of the helical groove may be the same.

Claims:1. A drug delivery device comprising: a housing comprising (i) a thread, (ii) a dose dispensing end, and (iii) a stop member that is integral to the housing; a dose dial sleeve disposed radially inward from the housing, the dose dial sleeve comprising a thread that engages with the thread of the housing; a clutch disposed radially inward from the dose dial sleeve, a piston rod; wherein the stop member is configured to engage the dose dial sleeve and prevent axial movement of a button away from the dose dispensing end; the clutch is configured to be rotationally fixed to the dose dial sleeve during dose setting; the piston rod is configured to traverse axially during dose dispensing; and the button is configured to be depressed axially towards the dose dispensing end of the housing.

2. The drug delivery device of claim 1, wherein the clutch comprises a first set of splines.

3. The drug delivery device of claim 2, comprising a member with a second set of splines that engage with the first set of splines.

4. The drug delivery device of claim 3, wherein the button is configured to be depressed axially towards the dose dispensing end and is configured to disengage the first and the second sets of splines.

5. The drug delivery device of claim 1 wherein the piston rod comprises a rotating piston rod.

6. The drug delivery device of claim 5 wherein the rotating piston rod rotates during dose dispensing.

7. The drug delivery device of claim 1 wherein the housing comprises a main housing.

8. The drug delivery device of claim 1 wherein the clutch comprises a tubular clutch.

9. The drug delivery device of claim 8 wherein the tubular clutch is located adjacent a distal end of the button.

10. The drug delivery device of claim 9 wherein the tubular clutch is operatively coupled to the button.

11. The drug delivery device of claim 1 wherein the clutch comprises a series of teeth.

12. The drug delivery device of claim 11 wherein the clutch comprises a series of circumferentially directed saw teeth.

13. The drug delivery device of claim 1 wherein the clutch comprises a flange.

14. The drug delivery device of claim 1 further comprising a clicker.

15. The drug delivery device of claim 14 wherein the clicker comprises a cylindrical clicker.
