Abstract: | The present invention relates to injectors, such as pen-type injectors, that provide for administration of medicinal products from a multidose-cartridge and permit a user to set the delivery dose. The injector may include a housing, a piston rod adapted to operate through the housing, a dose dial sleeve located between the housing and the piston rod, and a drive sleeve located between the dose dial sleeve and the piston rod. The dose dial sleeve may have a helical thread of first lead and the drive sleeve may have a helical groove of second lead. The first lead of the helical thread and the second lead of the helical groove may be the same. |

Claims: | 1. A drug delivery device comprising: a first member comprising (i) a first thread, (ii) a dose dispensing end, and (iii) a stop member that is integral to the first member; a second member disposed radially inward from the first member, the second member comprising a second thread that engages with the first thread; a third member disposed radially inward from the second member; a fourth member disposed radially inward from the third member; a fifth member engaged with the fourth member, the fifth member comprising a third thread; a sixth member that is rotationally fixed to the fourth member; wherein: the stop member is configured to engage the second member and prevent axial movement of the sixth member away from the dose dispensing end; the third member is configured to be rotationally fixed to the second member during dose setting; the fourth member is configured to be rotationally fixed to the third member during dose setting; the second, third, and fourth members configured to rotate during dose setting; the fifth member configured to traverse axially during dose dispensing; the sixth member is configured to be depressed axially towards the dose dispensing end. 2. The drug delivery device of claim 1 wherein the first member comprises a housing. 3. The drug delivery device of claim 1 wherein the second member comprises a dose indicator. 4. The drug delivery device of claim 1 wherein the third member comprises a clutch. 5. The drug delivery device of claim 1 wherein the fourth member comprises a drive sleeve. 6. The drug delivery device of claim 1 wherein the fifth member comprises a piston rod. 7. The drug delivery device of claim 1 wherein the sixth member comprises a button. 8. The drug delivery device of claim 1 where the third member comprises a first set of splines. 9. The drug delivery device of claim 8 where the fourth member comprises a second set of splines that engage with the first set of splines. 10. The drug delivery device of claim 9, wherein the sixth member is configured to be depressed axially towards the dose dispensing end and is configured to disengage the first and the second sets of splines. 11. The drug delivery device of claim 1 wherein the fifth member comprises a rotating member. 12. The drug delivery device of claim 11 wherein the rotating member rotates during dose dispensing. 13. The drug delivery device of claim 1 wherein the first member comprises a main housing. 14. The drug delivery device of claim 1 wherein the third member comprises a tubular member. 15. The drug delivery device of claim 14 wherein the tubular member is located adjacent a distal end of the sixth member. 16. The drug delivery device of claim 15 wherein the tubular member is operatively coupled to the sixth member. 17. The drug delivery device of claim 1 wherein the third member comprises a series of teeth. 18. The drug delivery device of claim 17 wherein the third member comprises a series of circumferentially directed saw teeth. 19. The drug delivery device of claim 1 wherein the third member comprises a flange. 20. The drug delivery device of claim 1 further comprising a clicker. 21. The drug delivery device of claim 20 wherein the clicker comprises a cylindrical clicker. 22. The drug delivery device of claim 21 wherein the cylindrical clicker comprises a flexible helically extending arm, and a series of directed saw teeth. 23. The drug delivery device of claim 22 wherein the series of directed saw teeth comprise circumferentially directed saw teeth. 24. The drug delivery device of claim 23 wherein the cylindrical clicker further comprises a spring. 25. The drug delivery device of claim 1 wherein the fifth member further comprises a pressure foot located at a first end of the fifth member, the pressure foot disposed to abut an end of a cartridge piston. 26. The drug delivery device of claim 1, further comprising a removable cap that is configured to be releasably retained over a portion of the first member, wherein an outer dimension of the removable cap is similar to an outer dimension of the first member. 27. The drug delivery device of claim 1 wherein the drug delivery device comprises a pen-type injector. 28. The drug delivery device of claim 1 wherein the first member is provided with a window through which part of an outer surface of the second member may be seen. |
