Claims: | 1. A process for the manufacture of a compound represented by formula Ia: ##STR00015## wherein s is 2; each R.sup.3 is independently selected from a group represented by halogen, cyano, nitro, C.sub.1-6-alkyl, or C.sub.1-6-alkyloxy; or an acid addition salt thereof, the process comprising reacting a compound of formula IVa ##STR00016## with a compound of the formula Cl--CH.sub.2--CH.sub.2--NH--CH.sub.2--CH.sub.2--Cl or Br--CH.sub.2--CH.sub.2--NH--CH.sub.2--CH.sub.2--Br. 2. The process of claim 1, wherein each R.sup.3 is independently C.sub.1-6-alkyl. 3. The process of claim 1, wherein the compound of formula Ia is 1-[2-(2,4-dimethylphenylsulfanyl)phenyl]piperazine. |
