Claims:1. A pharmaceutical composition in solid dosage form comprising, a) a therapeutically effective amount of a piperidinoalkanol compound of formula ##STR00010## wherein X is a number ranging from about zero to 5, or an optical isomer thereof, wherein the piperidinoalkanol compound has a particle surface area of greater than about 1.0 m.sup.2/g; and b) at least one inert ingredient.

2. The pharmaceutical composition according to claim 1, wherein X is zero.

3. The pharmaceutical composition according to claim 1 wherein the particle surface area of the piperidinoalkanol compound is about 2 to 10 m.sup.2/g.

4. The pharmaceutical composition according to claim 3 wherein the particle surface area of the piperidinoalkanol compound is about 2 to 6 m.sup.2/g.

5. The pharmaceutical composition according to claim 4 wherein the particle surface area of the piperidinoalkanol compound is about 2 to 4 m.sup.2/g.
