Claims: | 1. A method for treating a bacterial infection in a human, the method comprising administering to the human a compound of the formula: ##STR00009## or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. 2. The method of claim 1, wherein the compound is a hydrochloride salt. 3. The method of claim 1, wherein the compound or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof is administered intravenously. 4. The method of claim 1, wherein the compound or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof is administered once per day. 5. A method for treating a staphylococcal infection in a human, the method comprising administering to the human a compound of the formula: ##STR00010## or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. 6. The method of claim 5, wherein the compound is a hydrochloride salt. 7. The method of claim 5, wherein the compound or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof is administered intravenously. 8. The method of claim 5, wherein the compound or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof is administered once per day. 9. The method of claim 5, wherein the staphylococcal infection is caused by Staphylococcus aureus. 10. The method of claim 5, wherein the staphylococcal infection is caused by methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. |
