|Claims:||1. A compound of the formula: ##SPC2## |
Ar is phenyl;
R.sub.1 is hydrogen, C.sub.1-5 loweralkyl or halogenated C.sub.1-5 loweralkyl;
R.sub.2 is hydrogen or C.sub.1-5 loweralkyl;
R.sub.3, r.sub.4, r.sub.5 and R.sub.6 are each hydrogen, C.sub.1-5 loweralkyl, acyloxy, C.sub.1-5 loweralkoxy, nitro, amino, acylamino, C.sub.1-5 loweralkylamino, di-C.sub.1-5 loweralkylamino, di-C.sub.1-5 loweralkylaminoalkyl, sulfamyl, C.sub.1-5 loweralkylthio, mercapto, halogen, hydroxy, hydroxy C.sub.1-5 loweralkyl, C.sub.1-5 loweralkylsulfonyl, cyano, carboxyl, carb C.sub.1-5 loweralkoxy, carbamido, halogeno C.sub.1-5 loweralkyl, cycloalkyl, cycloalkoxy, alkynyl, alkenyl or aroyl at least one of R.sub.3 -R.sub.6 being cyano;
R.sub.7 may be C.sub.1-5 loweralkylsulfinyl or C.sub.1-5 loweralkylsulfonyl;
R.sub.8 may be hydrogen, halogen, hydroxy, C.sub.1-5 loweralkoxy or halo C.sub.1-5 loweralkyl; and
M may be hydroxy, C.sub.1-5 loweralkoxy and the group OMe in which Me is a cation.
2. The compound of claim 1 wherein
R.sub.1 is hydrogen or C.sub.1-5 loweralkyl;
R.sub.2 is C.sub.1-5 loweralkyl;
R.sub.3, r.sub.4, r.sub.5 and R.sub.6 are each hydrogen, C.sub.1-5 loweralkanoyloxy, benzoyloxy, C.sub.1-5 loweralkanoylamino, benzoylamino, cyano, fluoro, C.sub.1-5 loweralkoxy or di-C.sub.1-5 loweralkylamino, no more than two of R.sub.3, R.sub.4, R.sub.5 and R.sub.6 being other than hydrogen;
R.sub.7 is methylsulfinyl or methylsulfonyl;
R.sub.8 is hydrogen; and
M is hydroxy or C.sub.1-5 loweralkoxy.
3. The compound of claim 2 wherein
R.sub.1 is hydrogen;
R.sub.2 is C.sub.1-5 loweralkyl;
R.sub.7 is methylsulfinyl; and
M is hydroxy.
4. The compound of claim 3 wherein
R.sub.3 and R.sub.6 are each hydrogen;
R.sub.4 and R.sub.5 are each hydrogen, C.sub.1-5 loweralkanoyloxy, fluoro, C.sub.1-5 loweralkoxy, di-C.sub.1-5 loweralkylamino, benzoylamino, C.sub.1-5 loweralkanoylamino, benzoylamino or cyano.
5. The compound of claim 4 wherein
R.sub.5 is hydrogen; and
R.sub.4 is cyano.
6. The compound of claim 5 wherein
R.sub.4 is cyano; and
R.sub.2 is methyl.
