Abstract:Benzenesulfonyl-ureas of the formula ##SPC1## In which R.sup.1 is alkyl or alkenyl of two to eight carbon atoms, cycloalkyl of five to eight carbon atoms, cyclohexyl-lower alkyl, lower alkyl-cyclohexyl, lower alkoxy-cyclohexyl, phenyl-lower alkyl, endoalkylene-cyclohexyl, endoalkylene-cyclohexenyl, endoalkylene- cyclohexylmethyl or endoalkylene-cyclohexenylmethyl having one to two carbon atoms in the endoalkylene moiety, cyclohexenyl or cyclohexenylmethyl; Y is an alkylene of one to four carbon atoms; Z is phenyl or p-tolyl; and X is hydrogen, methyl, chloro or nitro substituted in the four- or five-position; and physiologically tolerable salts thereof are disclosed as having utility as orally administrable hypoglycemic agents in the treatment of diabetes mellitus. 12 Claims, No Drawings
