9. A method for the management of obesity in a patient comprising administering to a patient in need thereof a hydrochloric acid salt according to claim 1.

10. The method according to claim 9, wherein said method for the management of obesity comprises a method for decreasing body weight.

11. The method according to claim 9, wherein said method for the management of obesity comprises a method for maintaining body weight.

12. The method according to claim 9, wherein said patient has an initial body mass index of greater than 30 kg/m.sup.2.
