6. A method of inducing satiety in a mammal comprising administering to said mammal a pharmaceutically effective amount of a pharmaceutically acceptable salt according to claim 1.

7. A method of controlling weight gain of a mammal comprising administering to said mammal a pharmaceutically effective amount of a pharmaceutically acceptable salt according to claim 1.

8. A method of treatment of obesity comprising administering to a patient in need of such treatment a pharmaceutically effective amount of a pharmaceutically acceptable salt according to claim 1.

9. A method of decreasing food intake of a mammal comprising administering to said mammal a pharmaceutically effective amount of a hydrate of a pharmaceutically acceptable salt according to claim 2.

10. A method of inducing satiety in a mammal comprising administering to said mammal a pharmaceutically effective amount of a hydrate of a pharmaceutically acceptable salt according to claim 2.

11. A method of controlling weight gain of a mammal comprising administering to said mammal a pharmaceutically effective amount of a hydrate of a pharmaceutically acceptable salt according to claim 2.

12. A method of treatment of obesity comprising administering to a patient in need of such treatment a pharmaceutically effective amount of a hydrate of a pharmaceutically acceptable salt according to claim 2.

13. A solvate of a pharmaceutically acceptable salt of (R)-8-chloro-1-methyl-2,3,4,5-tetrahydro-1H-3-benzazepine.

14. A pharmaceutical composition comprising a solvate of a pharmaceutically acceptable salt according to claim 13, and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier or excipient.

15. A method of decreasing food intake of a mammal comprising administering to said mammal a pharmaceutically effective amount of a solvate of a pharmaceutically acceptable salt according to claim 13.

16. A method of inducing satiety in a mammal comprising administering to said mammal a pharmaceutically effective amount of a solvate of a pharmaceutically acceptable salt according to claim 13.

17. A method of controlling weight gain of a mammal comprising administering to said mammal a pharmaceutically effective amount of a solvate of a pharmaceutically acceptable salt according to claim 13.

18. A method of treatment of obesity comprising administering to a patient in need of such treatment a pharmaceutically effective amount of a solvate of a pharmaceutically acceptable salt according to claim 13.
