Summary for Patent: 9,669,094
Title:Methods for increasing susceptibility to apoptosis by administering an inhibitor of kallikrein 6 polypeptide activity
Abstract: This document provides methods and materials involved in modulating a cell\'s ability to be resistant to apoptosis. For example, methods and materials for exposing cells to KLK6 polypeptides, or increased KLK6 polypeptide activity, to promote resistance to apoptosis are provided. In addition, methods and materials for reducing the ability of KLK6 polypeptides to promote resistance to apoptosis are provided.
Inventor(s): Scarisbrick; Isobel A. (Rochester, MN)
Assignee: Mayo Foundation for Medical Education and Research (Rochester, MN)
Application Number:13/962,686
Patent Claims:1. A method for increasing the susceptibility of cancer cells to apoptosis, wherein said cancer cells are present within a mammal and have Kallikrein 6 (KLK6) polypeptide-induced resistance to apoptosis, wherein said method comprises: administering an inhibitor of KLK6 polypeptide activity to said mammal under conditions wherein said inhibitor reduces the level of KLK6 polypeptide-induced resistance to apoptosis triggered by an apoptosis-inducing agent of said cancer cells within said mammal, wherein said inhibitor is an anti-KLK6 antibody.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein said mammal is a human.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein said method further comprises administering an anti-cancer agent to said mammal.

4. The method of claim 3, wherein said anti-cancer agent is temazolamide, avastin, taxol, or radiation.
