Abstract: A compound is disclosed that has a formula represented by the following: ##STR00001## This compound may be prepared as a pharmaceutical composition, and may be used for the prevention and treatment of a variety of conditions in mammals including humans, including by way of non-limiting example, inflammatory conditions, autoimmune diseases, proliferative diseases, transplantation rejection, diseases involving impairment of cartilage turnover, congenital cartilage malformations, and/or diseases associated with hypersecretion of IL6.

Patent Claims:1. A method for the treatment of an inflammatory condition selected from Crohn's disease and colitis, or a proliferative disease selected from psoriasis, said method comprising administering a therapeutically effective amount of a compound according to Formula I: ##STR00011## or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.

2. The method according to claim 1, comprising the administration of a pharmaceutical composition comprising a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier and a pharmaceutically effective amount of said compound, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.

3. The method according to claim 1, wherein the inflammatory condition is Crohn's disease.

4. The method according to claim 1, wherein the inflammatory condition is colitis.

5. The method according to claim 1, wherein the method is for the treatment of psoriasis.

6. The method according to claim 2, wherein the inflammatory condition is Crohn's disease.

7. The method according to claim 2, wherein the inflammatory condition is colitis.

8. The method according to claim 2, wherein the method is for the treatment of psoriasis.

9. The method according to claim 1, wherein said compound is administered in combination with a further therapeutic agent.

10. The method according to claim 2, wherein said pharmaceutical composition is administered in combination with a further therapeutic agent.

11. The method according to claim 9, wherein said further therapeutic agent is an agent for the treatment of Crohn's disease.

12. The method according to claim 9, wherein said further therapeutic agent is an agent for the treatment of colitis.

13. The method according to claim 9, wherein said further therapeutic agent is an agent for the treatment of psoriasis.

14. The method according to claim 10, wherein said further therapeutic agent is an agent for the treatment of Crohn's disease.

15. The method according to claim 10, wherein said further therapeutic agent is an agent for the treatment of colitis.

16. The method according to claim 10, wherein said further therapeutic agent is an agent for the treatment of psoriasis.

17. The method according to claim 11, wherein the further therapeutic agent is an agent selected from glucocorticoids, synthetic disease modifying, immunomodulatory agents, and biological disease modifying, immunomodulatory agents.

18. The method according to claim 17, wherein the further therapeutic agent is selected from prednisone, budesonide, methotrexate, leflunomide, sulfasalazine, mesalazine, azathioprine, 6-mercaptopurine, cyclosporine, infliximab, adalimumab, rituximab, and abatacept.

19. The method according to claim 12, wherein the further therapeutic agent is an agent selected from glucocorticoids, synthetic disease modifying, immunomodulatory agents, and biological disease modifying, immunomodulatory agents.

20. The method according to claim 19, wherein the further therapeutic agent is selected from prednisone, budesonide, methotrexate, leflunomide, sulfasalazine, mesalazine, azathioprine, 6-mercaptopurine, cyclosporine, infliximab, adalimumab, rituximab, and abatacept.

The method according to claim 13, wherein the further therapeutic agent is selected from topical agents selected from coal tar, dithranol, corticosteroids, vitamin D.sub.3 analogues, and retinoids; and systemic agents selected from synthetic disease modifying, immunomodulatory agents, and biological disease modifying, immunomodulatory agents.

22. The method according to claim 21, wherein the further therapeutic agent is selected from methotrexate, cyclosporine, retinoids, tioguanine, hydroxyurea, sulfasalazine, mycophenolate mofetil, azathioprine, tacrolimus, fumaric acid esters, and ustekinumab.
