Patent Claims:1. A method comprising: internally administering to an animal suffering from platelet aggregation an effective amount of 4-[3-[4-(6-fluoro-1,2,-benzisoxazol-3-yl)-1-piperidinyl]propoxy]-3-methox- y-benzoic acid or pharmaceutically-acceptable salt thereof, thereby treating platelet aggregation in the animal.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein internally administering the effective amount of 4-[3-[4-(6-fluoro-1,2,-benzisoxazol-3-yl)-1-piperidinyl]propoxy- ]-3-methoxy-benzoic acid or pharmaceutically-acceptable salt thereof antagonizes a 5-HT.sub.2A receptor not located in the brain.

3. The method of claim 1, further comprising: administering to the animal at least one antithrombotic agent.

4. The method of claim 3, wherein the antithrombotic agent is selected from a group consisting of: clopidogrel bisulfate, streptokinase, alteplase, aprotinin, aspirin, and warfarin.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein the 4-[3-[4-(6-fluoro-1,2,-benzisoxazol-3-yl)-1-piperidinyl]propoxy]-3-methox- y-benzoic acid or pharmaceutically-acceptable salt thereof is in a controlled release pharmaceutical dosage form.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the 4-[3-[4-(6-fluoro-1,2,-benzisoxazol-3-yl)-1-piperidinyl]propoxy]-3-methox- y-benzoic acid or pharmaceutically-acceptable salt thereof administered to the animal is between about 1 mg/day and about 500 mg/day.

7. The method of claim 6, wherein the amount is between about 5 mg/day and about 100 mg/day.

8. The method of claim 1, wherein the amount of 4-[3-[4-(6-fluoro-1,2,-benzisoxazol-3-yl)-1-piperidinyl]propoxy]-3-methox- y-benzoic acid or pharmaceutically-acceptable salt thereof administered to the animal is between about 0.01 mg/kg/day and about 10 mg/kg/day.

9. The method of claim 8, wherein the amount is between about 0.5 mg/kg/day and about 1.5 mg/kg/day.

10. The method of claim 1, wherein the animal is a human.
