Patent Claims:1. A method for reducing the likelihood of developing a skin rash secondary to an anti-epidermal growth factor (EGFR) therapy in a subject in need of the therapy, the method comprising applying vitamin K3 to the skin of the subject prior to occurrence of the rash in an amount effective to reduce development of the rash.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the vitamin K3 is applied to the face.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the anti-EGFR therapy is treatment with an anti-EGFR antibody.

4. The method of claim 3, wherein the anti-EGFR antibody is cetuximab.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein the anti-EGFR therapy is treatment with an EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitor.

6. The method of claim 5, wherein the EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitor is gefitinib or erlotinib.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein the vitamin K3 activates EGFR.

8. The method of claim 1, wherein the vitamin K3 is formulated in a pharmaceutical formulation suitable for topical administration.

9. The method of claim 1, wherein the vitamin K3 is applied to the trunk.

10. The method of claim 1, comprising exposing skin cells to at least 0.01 mM vitamin K3.
