Assignee: | Micronics, Inc. (Redmond, WA) |
Application Number: | 12/341,637 |
Patent Claims: | 1. A microfluidic card for performing an immunoassay, the microfluidic card comprising an on-board waste fluid isolation apparatus, said on-board waste fluid isolation
apparatus comprising: a) a plastic body having an external surface and encasing a waste receiving reservoir, said reservoir having a waste fluid channel receiving port for receiving an immunoassay waste fluid and a venting end port in fluid communication
with a vent exiting said external surface; b) an absorbent bat disposed within said waste receiving reservoir and wettably contacting said waste fluid channel receiving port; and c) a flexible film disposed within said waste receiving reservoir for
separating said receiving port and said vent, and having a first side facing said absorbent bat and a second side in fluid communication with said vent, wherein said flexible film is sealed to said plastic body such that said flexible film isolatingly
separates said waste fluid and said vent.
2. The microfluidic card of claim 1, wherein said vent further comprises a gas-permeable:water impermeable filter barrier. 3. A kit for performing a heterogeneous binding assay on a clinical sample, said kit comprising the microfluidic card of claim 1. |
