Patent Claims:1. A method for inhibiting metastasis of cancer cells in a patient in need thereof, comprising the administration of an effective amount of a PI-3 kinase inhibitor, said method further comprising assessing said patient for tumor invasion distant from site of origin following administration of said PI-3 kinase inhibitor.

2. A method as claimed in claim 1, wherein said PI-3 kinase inhibitor effectively blocks angiogenesis.

3. A method as claimed in claim 1, further comprising the administration of at least one additional chemotherapeutic agent.

4. A method as claimed in claim 3, wherein said at least one additional chemotherapeutic agent is selected from the group consisting of alkylating agents, antimetabolites, asparaginase, vincristine, vinblastine, anthracyclines, microtubule disrupting agents, taxol, herceptin, and etoposides.

5. A method as claimed in claim 1, wherein said PI-kinase inhibitor is LY294002.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein said PI-3 kinase inhibitor is Wortmannin.
