Patent Claims:1. A method of treating obsessive compulsive hand washing disorder in a human patient having the disorder comprising local administration of a therapeutically effective amount of a botulinum toxin, by intramuscular, subcutaneous, transcutaneous or subdermal route, to a forearm, a hand, or a finger of said patient, thereby treating said obsessive compulsive hand washing disorder in said patient.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the botulinum toxin is selected from the group consisting of botulinum toxin types A, B, C, D, L, F and G.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the botulinum toxin is type A botulinum toxin.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the obsessive compulsive hand washing disorder is treated for between about one month and about five years.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein the local administration is by intramuscular injection.

6. A method of treating obsessive compulsive hand washing disorder in a human patient having the disorder comprising local administration of a therapeutically effective amount of botulinum toxin type A to a forearm muscle of said patient, thereby treating said obsessive compulsive hand washing disorder for between about one month and about five years.

7. A method of treating a human patient with obsessive compulsive hand washing disorder comprising local administration to a palm of the patient a therapeutically effective amount of botulinum toxin type B, thereby treating said obsessive compulsive hand washing disorder in said patient.
