Patent Claims:	1. A method for treating priapism, the method comprising the step of locally administering to the penis of a mammal with priapism a botulinum toxin in an amount effective to treat priapism wherein the botulinum toxin is selected from the group consisting of botulinum toxin types A, B, C, D, E, F and G. 2. The method of claim 1, wherein the botulinum toxin is a botulinum toxin type A and the botulinum toxin type A is administered in an amount between 1 unit and about 500 units. 3. The method of claim 1, wherein the botulinum toxin is a botulinum toxin type B and the botulinum toxin type B is administered in an amount between 1 unit and about 10,000 units. 4. The method of claim 1, wherein the priapism is substantially alleviated for between about 2 weeks and about 6 months. 5. The method of claim 1, wherein the botulinum toxin in administered to the corpus cavernosum of the penis. 6. A method for treating priapism, the method comprising the step of locally administering to the penis of a mammal with priapism a botulinum toxin type A effective to treat priapism. 7. The method of claim 6, wherein the botulinum toxin type A is administered in an amount between 1 unit and about 500 units.
