Abstract:	The present invention relates to the novel compound 2-O-(9z,12z-octadecadienoyl)-3-O-[.alpha.-D-galactopyranosyl-(1\"-6\')-O-.al pha.-D-galactopyranosyl]glycerol (Generic name: shinbarometin) having the chemical structure represented by the following formula: ##STR1## or its acetate having an excellent effect on arthritis, osteoporosis and ruptured disc, and to a pharmaceutical composition containing said compound as an effective component, in combination with a pharmaceutically acceptable auxiliary, diluent, isotonic agent, preservative, lubricant and solubilizing aid, which is formulated in the form of a pharmaceutically acceptable preparation and has a potent effect for osteoporosis, arthritis and ruptured disc.

Patent Claims:	1. Purified 2-O-(9z, 12z-octadecadienoyl)-3-O-[.alpha.-galactopyranosyl-(1"-6')-O-.alpha.-D-gal actopyranosyl]glycerol having the chemical structure represented by the following formulas or its acetate: ##STR3## 2. A pharmaceutical preparation containing as an effective component 2-O-(9z,12z-octadecadienoyl)-3-O-[.alpha.-galactopyranosyl-(1"-6')-O-.alph a.-D-galactopyranosyl]glycerol having the chemical structure represented by the following formula: ##STR4## or its acetate, in combination with a pharmaceutically acceptable auxiliary, diluent, isotonic agent, preservative, lubricant and solubilizing aid, which is formulated in the form of a pharmaceutically acceptable preparation and has a potent effect for osteoporosis, arthritis and ruptured disc. 3. A pharmaceutical preparation containing as an effective component 2-O-(9z,12z-octadecadienoyl)-3-O-[.alpha.-galactopyranosyl-(1"-6')-O-.alph a.-D-galactopyranosyl]glycerol having the chemical structure represented by the following formula: ##STR5## or its acetate, and one or more materials selected from the group consisting of allendrate, tamoxifen, vitamin D.sub.3, parathyroid hormone, sulfasalazine, thioredoxin reductase, allendronate, raloxifene, calcitonin, estradiol, genistein, 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D.sub.3, estrogen receptor modulator, biphosphonates, and harpagide, in combination with a pharmaceutically acceptable auxiliary, diluent, isotonic agent, preservative, lubricant and solubilizing aid, which is formulated in the form of a pharmaceutically acceptable preparation and has a potent effect for osteo porosis, arthritis and ruptured disc.
