Patent Claims:	1. An antibody which is immunoreactive with a naturally occurring, mammalian parathyroid hormone receptor wherein the mammalian species is human, rat or opossum. 2. A therapeutic composition comprising the antibody of claim 1 and a pharmaceutically-acceptable carrier. 3. The antibody of claim 1, wherein the receptor is a human parathyroid hormone receptor. 4. The antibody of claim 1, wherein the receptor is a rat parathyroid hormone receptor. 5. The antibody of claim 1, wherein the receptor is an oppossum parathyroid hormone receptor. 6. The antibody of claim 1, wherein the receptor has an amino acid sequence encoded by SEQ ID NO:1, 2, or 3. 7. The antibody of claim 3, wherein the receptor has an amino acid sequence encoded by SEQ ID NO:4. 8. The antibody of claim 1, wherein the antibody binds to a peptide selected from the group consisting of SEQ ID NO:5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10. 9. The antibody of claim 1, wherein the antibody is a monoclonal antibody. 10. The antibody of claim 1, wherein the antibody is a polyclonal antibody. 11. The antibody of claim 1, wherein the antibody competes with parathyroid hormone for binding to the receptor. 12. The composition of claim 2, wherein the receptor is a human parathyroid hormone receptor. 13. The composition of claim 2, wherein the receptor has the amino acid sequence encoded by SEQ ID NO:4. 14. The composition of claim 12, wherein the antibody competes with human parathyroid hormone for binding to the receptor. 15. The composition of claim 12, wherein the antibody is a monoclonal antibody.
